3 colleges disaffiliated by JNTU
Hyderabad : In a significant development, a day ahead of the Eamcet engineering counselling on August 29, the JNTU-Hyderabad has withdrawn affiliation to three engineering colleges for lack of adequate faculty and infrastructure as stipulated by the AICTE norms.
1) The New India College of Engineering and Technology, Gollapalli, Chevella
2) Shahjehan Colleges of Engineering and Technology, Ramannaguda, Chevella and
3) Nova Institute of Technological Research for Women, Hayathnagar,
are the three colleges that have been disaffiliated. Nearly 300 students are currently enrolled in these colleges and the university is making alternative arrangements to accommodate them in nearby colleges.
Meanwhile, the Eamcet web-based counselling will begin on August 29 with the verification of certificates in nearly 60 helpline centres across the state. As many as 663 colleges with an intake of 2,55,595 seats were included in the SW-I counselling till Tuesday. Few more are expected to get AICTE’s approval till September 2.
This apart, another 21 minority engineering colleges, with an intake of 8,070 seats, are conducting separate counselling under SW-II category. With this, the total number of colleges in the state touched 684 with an intake of 2,63,665 seats. Another 10,000 seats are likely to be added with the AICTE permitting “second shifts” in nearly 85 colleges. However, a final decision is yet to taken, including the second shift seats.
