Job Description: Talisman Energy (UK) Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of Talisman Energy Inc; a large, independent, oil and gas company, headquartered in Calgary, Canada. In the UK, Talisman is the fourth largest producer of oil and the second largest operator by number of oil fields. Support is valued at £1,000 per year for either two or three years as determined by programme classification, year of award and date of graduation.

Job Description:  Kongsberg is an international, knowledge-based corporation that supplies high-technology systems and solutions to customers engaged in the oil and gas industry, the merchant marine, and the defence and aerospace industries.
Kongsberg is offering one Kongsberg Maritime Specialist Scholarship in Electrical & Electronic Engineering.

The scholarship is valued at £1,500 per annum and will be awarded to the successful applicant for the rest of their undergraduate degree programme.

If the successful applicant is studying one of the above listed MEng degree programmes, they will receive £1,500 per annum for each of years 3, 4 and 5 (i.e. £4,500 over 3 years).

If the successful applicant is studying one of the above listed BEng degree programmes, they will receive £1,500 per annum for each of years 3 and 4 (i.e. £3,000 over 2 years).

You should note that the scholarship is open to all students commencing the third year of any of the eligible degree programmes listed above in September 2010, regardless of nationality, where they are domiciled, or fee structure to which they belong to.

The scholarship will be subject to the scholarship recipient successfully completing each year of their degree programme to the satisfaction of the School of Engineering. Should the scholarship recipient take a year out, for example, to do a work placement or to pursue other interests, then the scholarship payments will be stopped and will not be renewed.

Where the student is required to repeat a year because they failed to reach the academic requirements, payment will not be paid for the repeat year and the scholarship award will not be renewed. The scholarship can only be held by students of the University – they cannot be transferred to another institution.

The College of Physical Sciences Scholarship Committee will consider the applications and shortlist the candidates. The successful recipient shall be selected by the Head of School of Engineering and the Chair of Electric & Electronic Engineering. In making the decision, the selection panel will take into account your educational background and achievements, other relevant information given in your CV and covering letter, and the statement from your referee.

The University will award the scholarship to applicants who have good academic potential, and who are likely to be successful in their chosen degree course.The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and a passion for their subject.

You will need to provide a supporting academic Reference.It should preferably be completed by an academic member of staff at the University of Aberdeen who is familiar with your academic achievements. This may be your Advisor of Studies, course coordinator, course lecturer, course tutor, etc. Alternatively, someone who is familiar with your recent studies and academic achievements – or with your intellectual capabilities – at school or college (normally but not necessarily the Head Teacher or Principal) – would be a satisfactory referee.
The form for your Reference should be given to the person you have nominated. The person writing the Reference should give it back to you, either open or in a sealed envelope. It is then your responsibility to ensure that the reference is enclosed with your application.

The sports scholarships are designed to support potential elite athletes and sports people who are competing at national and international level in their chosen sport. All students must represent the University teams in the BUCS Championships.

The scholarship, tenable at any New Zealand university for one year, is available to graduates who are registered for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the Physical Sciences and Engineering. In accordance with Professor Bates’ love of interdisciplinary research a wide range of students in the physical sciences and engineering will be eligible. Preference will be given to those whose research aims to apply information/image processing to studies in medicine, the physical sciences, astronomy or engineering.

Number of Awards and Tenure: A single award of $5,000 is offered for one year in 2011. This is in the form of a framed certificate and $5,000.

Applications are now being called for the 2011 R. H. T. Bates Postgraduate Scholarship. The closing date for applications is 1 September 2010.

These scholarships have been established under the terms of the Will of the late Helen E. Akers.
1.There shall be two classes of scholarships.

(a)PhD Scholarships: Candidates must be enrolled full-time for a PhD degree in one of the Applied Academic Programme disciplines relevant to agriculture or horticulture (paper prefix of 111, 112, 117, 119, 138, 171, 188, 189, 239 or 239) at Massey University. The scholarships shall be awarded annually as funds permit provided that applications are of sufficient academic merit. The award shall be up to $6,000 per annum.
(b)Postgraduate Scholarships: Candidates must be enrolled full-time for a postgraduate degree or a postgraduate diploma in an Applied Academic Programme discipline relevant to agriculture or horticulture (see above) at Massey University. The scholarships shall be awarded annually as funds permit provided that applications are of sufficient merit. The award shall be up to $3,000 per annum.
2.The scholarships shall be awarded on the recommendation of the Applied Academic Programmes Scholarships Committee and shall be based on the candidate’s academic attainment.
3.In recommending the award of scholarships the Applied Academic Programmes Scholarships Committee shall take account of other scholarships and bursaries held with a view to achieving a reasonable distribution of monies among qualifying candidates.
4.Payment is made in May.
5.At the discretion of the University all, or part, of the annual interest may be reinvested in order to maintain the value of the capital fund.
6.The Applied Academic Programmes Scholarships Committee may withdraw or suspend an award at any time if the recipient fails to make satisfactory academic progress.
7.Applications close with the Scholarships Office, Graduate Research School on 10 March in the year in which the award is to be made.
8.For students who begin their postgraduate programme after 10 March, applications close on 10 September for the first year of their programme.

This is a prestige Scholarship for PhD study in the areas of earth, physical, biological and social sciences specified below. It is open to both men and women, and is tenable at any university in New Zealand. The Scholarship is in memory of Dr Sarah Beanland who died in a tramping accident in June 1996. Sarah’s enthusiasm, commitment and intellectual ability were an inspiration to all who knew her. She demonstrated superb skills and enthusiasm for integrating geology and geophysics to address tectonic problems. Sarah graduated from the University of Otago and Victoria University of Wellington and conducted most of her work at GNS Science.

who best demonstrates, through excellence in their achievements to date and their proposed research, that they are likely to make in their career a significant contribution to research of relevance to New Zealand in fields covered by GNS Science – possible fields include, but are not limited to, geophysics, geology, social science, geomicrobiology, isotope science, nanotechnology, ion-beam physics, and non-invasive scanning
whose project best promotes collaboration between a New Zealand university and GNS Science – applicants should approach potential supervisors, at their preferred university and at GNS Science, to discuss possible projects before preparing their applications.
